Our recent OceanSave® installation is protecting platypus from toxic litter in Hobart’s rivulet system.

We’re proud to see one of our OceanSave® gross pollutant traps installed at McRobies Gully, Hobart, as part of the city council’s project to protect the Hobart Rivulet and its much-loved platypus.

Our solution is designed to capture nearly 10 cubic metres of litter — around ten times the capacity of ‘sock on pipe’ systems. This helps stop harmful debris that would otherwise wash into the rivulet and pose a threat to the city’s largest platypus population.

Robust stormwater infrastructure like our GPTs is vital to giving species like the platypus a fighting chance. We’re equally proud to see this story gaining traction in local media, such as the Tasmanian Times and Pulse Tasmania, reflecting a growing recognition of the critical role stormwater infrastructure plays in protecting urban waterways and native wildlife.
