Ocean Protect, a stormwater filter media technology leader dedicated to ongoing improvement, is excited to unveil our newest advancement for the Australian stormwater industry: the StormFilter® NPSorb technology.
The SQIDEP verified, StormFilter® is an innovative stormwater treatment system that includes one or more structures with rechargeable, media-filled cartridges. These cartridges are designed to capture particulates and adsorb pollutants from stormwater runoff. Over the past 21 years, Ocean Protect has installed more than 38,000 StormFilter® cartridges across Australia, working to safeguard our oceans and waterways from pollution. Our system offers a range of media options, and the newly developed ‘NPSorb’ media specifically targets high rates of phosphorus and nitrogen removal.
Recent real-world performance monitoring in Western Sydney has showcased the StormFilter® NPSorb’s impressive effectiveness in pollution removal and as equally important, its resilience. This new technology demonstrates similar removal rates to the popular StormFilter® PSorb, but operates at higher flow rates.
Stormwater Australia have confirmed that the StormFilter® NPSorb technology complies with their Stormwater Quality Improvement Device Evaluation Protocol (SQIDEP). The SQIDEP review report and verification certificate is available here. To date, this is the fourth Ocean Protect technology to achieve SQIDEP verification.
In the coming months, Ocean Protect will be engaging with local governments and regulators throughout Australia to verify the suitability of StormFilter® NPSorb technology for various regions.
