Why are Bioretention Systems important?
Bioretention systems (also called ‘biofiltration’ and ‘rain gardens’) are one of the most popular stormwater treatment asset types within Australia to help achieve water sensitive urban environments given their flexible design, space efficiency and applicability to a variety of scales. An estimated $3 billion worth of new bioretention systems will be installed by 2030 in south east Queensland alone – and it is vital that these assets function appropriately.
