Contech Engineered Solutions have recently released the report Filterra – analysis of long-term performance. This report aims to advance the knowledge of biofiltration longevity through research that assesses the ability of high rate biofiltration systems to provide consistent water quality and hydraulic performance at the decadal time scale with standard maintenance.

The report describes how, since 2007, the water quality performance of high flow (Filterra) biofiltration systems at three (3) sites in the US were evaluated. The results demonstrated that the Filterra biofiltration systems continue to meet or exceed performance expectations, suggesting that routine maintenance is adequate to maintain design functionality long-term without replacement of the bioretention soil media.
