Event Details
Microplastics are a growing environmental concern, with urban catchments acting as major pathways that transport microplastics into stormwater infrastructure and local waterways.
This session will explore what microplastics are, how they are created, where they’re found, their potential impacts, their abundance and characteristics in stormwater, and a practical approach for monitoring them in stormwater.
The 60-minute session will include a short presentation by researchers from the Sustainable Communities and Waste Hub’s UNSW team: Dr Sanjith Udayakumar, Sofia Payel and Asiyeh Kheradmand and Ocean Protect’s Daniel Rider, followed by a Q&A with attendees. A certificate of CPD will be provided to all attendees.
The 2026 Stormwater Fundamentals Series is proudly brought to you by Ocean Protect. For any queries, please contact us.
